I hope so too. There’s nothing like not being able to wait to get back to a good book.

I used to read a book a day. I reveled in reading. But I too just have a hard time getting started now. I have become very picky. What I can't stand is the machinations people go through or how silly I think the character choices happen to be. I especially don't need to be taught a moral lesson.

I do have my favorite authors and I read those books. But lately these are few and far between. One of my favs, Daniel Silva, just dropped a new book. It's sitting in my kindle and I just can't seem to open it.

I am not interested in nonfiction either.

Sigh. Guess I will stick with substack and my Apple News feed....

Here's hoping something catches my interest soon. :)

I read tons when my kids were little:

Chedva (age 5): let’s play mommy and daddy. I’m the mommy. [lays on the couch with a book]….

I do wish I could get back into it. I agree with so many of these comments: books mean naps…silly…life gets in the way…

On the other hand, I feel a little guilty spending too much time on Substack. Sometimes reading gets in the way of writing (for me).

Reading requires less than writing. Especially without the gravitas of an actual book.

That story is too cute.

You too!!

Books are time sinks. They’re hard to really read if you don’t have time to give them the full time, attention, and love they might deserve. Audio books do wonders but still are time sinks. With a busy life, it’s just tough. I understand.

At age 58 reading from a book causes nap

Hundreds in my collection, dozens unread

Love substack for its read out loud option

I've encountered old books with notes from previous readers and it's often fascinating, I only went as far as folding pages to refer back to.

I like the phrase I profoundly don't care, learned at an early age if a book bored me move on

Really enjoyed this post.

Sometimes life gets in the way of reading, and that’s OK.

So many ways to learn new things. I definitely enjoy articles- Substack, the newspaper, etc. It’s a way of constantly thinking about something. Books are more stand alone ways to learn about something that a person can’t always access.
